Quality Control Excellence: How We Ensure Precision in Every 3D Welding Table
Our Commitment to Quality
At our manufacturing facility, quality is not an afterthought — it is engineered into every step of production. Every 3D welding table that leaves our factory floor represents hundreds of individual quality checks, from raw material intake to final certification. This rigorous approach ensures that our customers receive products that meet the demanding standards of European industry. Here is an inside look at our quality control process.
Stage 1: Raw Material Inspection
Quality begins with materials. Every batch of HT300 grey cast iron and S355 structural steel is tested upon arrival at our facility. We verify chemical composition using spark optical emission spectrometry to ensure the alloy meets specification. HT300 must contain precisely controlled carbon, silicon, and manganese levels to achieve the correct graphite structure for vibration dampening and thermal stability.
For steel plates, we check mechanical properties including yield strength, tensile strength, and hardness. Only material that passes all checks enters production. Non-conforming batches are rejected and returned to the supplier. This upfront investment in material verification prevents downstream defects that would be costly to correct.
Stage 2: Precision CNC Machining — ±0.05 mm Tolerance
The heart of our 3D welding table is the precision bore grid. Each hole is machined on 5-axis CNC machining centres from leading European manufacturers. Our machining process achieves a positional accuracy of ±0.05 mm between bores — tighter than the industry standard of ±0.1 mm.
To maintain this precision, every machine is thermally stabilised and calibrated daily using laser interferometry. Cutting tools are monitored in real time with automatic compensation for wear. During machining, each tabletop undergoes in-process inspection using touch probes that verify bore position, diameter, and depth before the part is removed from the machine.
Statistical process control (SPC) data is collected for every production run. If a trend toward the tolerance limit is detected, the process is adjusted before any non-conforming parts are produced.
Stage 3: Stress Relief Heat Treatment
Cast iron tabletops undergo a specialised stress relief heat treatment process before final machining. This involves slowly heating the casting to 550-600°C, holding at temperature for 4-6 hours, and then cooling at a controlled rate of less than 30°C per hour.
This process eliminates internal stresses that were created during the casting process. Without this step, the tabletop could distort over time — especially under the thermal cycling of welding work. Our stress relief process ensures that the table maintains its flatness for decades of heavy use. After treatment, each tabletop is measured for flatness using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), with results documented and traceable to the production batch.
Stage 4: Final Product Inspection
Before any table is approved for shipment, it undergoes a comprehensive final inspection:
- Flatness verification: Every tabletop is checked on a granite surface plate using precision dial indicators. Flatness must be within ≤0.1 mm/m², with premium options achieving ±0.05 mm.
- Bore gauge inspection: Each bore is individually gauged to verify diameter tolerance of H7 or better. Any bore outside specification is reworked or the tabletop is rejected.
- Surface finish assessment: The tabletop surface is inspected for any defects, porosity, or surface irregularities that could affect clamping or workpiece stability.
- Accessories testing: Every clamp, stop, and accessory included with the table is tested for fit and function on a master gauge table.
Stage 5: CE Certification and Documentation
All our 3D welding tables carry full CE certification, confirming compliance with applicable European Union health, safety, and environmental protection standards. Each shipment includes:
- CE Declaration of Conformity
- Material certificates for all major components
- Flatness and dimensional inspection report
- Load capacity certification
- Warranty documentation
We maintain complete traceability from raw material batch to serial number on every table we produce. If a customer ever needs to verify the history of their table, we can provide the complete production and inspection record.
Continuous Improvement
Quality control does not end at the factory gate. We actively collect feedback from our field service team and customers to identify opportunities for improvement. Every non-conformance, whether caught internally or reported in the field, is investigated using root cause analysis (RCA) methodology. Corrective actions are implemented and validated before closure.
Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015, and we undergo annual surveillance audits to maintain our certification. For customers requiring additional quality documentation for specific projects, our QA team works directly with them to meet their requirements.
